Ms Akiko Fukui

Regional Student Representative for London

Akiko is a 2nd year graduate medical student at St George's. Previously, she worked in pharmaceutical consulting, leading various drug development and regulatory projects for large multinational healthcare companies. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc Epidemiology from Imperial College London. 

She has held leadership positions throughout her academic and professional careers. In her previous job, she initiated and led cross-office seminars. Currently, she is in the KCL Leaders in Health committee and organises inter-institutional events on leadership.  

Having grown up in Japan and worked with various healthcare systems, she is passionate about improving global outlook in Medicine. She has recently completed her internship at the WHO Kobe Centre, with whom she continues to work on a dementia research project. 

She is determined to create more opportunities for medical students to hone their leadership skills through research and health advocacy.
