North West Region 2021/22
NHS Regional Clinical Fellow Scheme 2021/22

Caroline Morrish graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2003 and completed Band 5 rotations at University Hospital Aintree. She then moved to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, working across a wide range of specialities including Rheumatology and Occupational Health, building relationships with the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders across primary and secondary care. Caroline is now a Band 7 team lead in the recently merged Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Caroline has completed the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)’s Leadership Development Programme (LDP) and has created and led training around the importance of effective leadership and awareness of values and behaviours. She has been involved in the Cheshire & Merseyside AHP Faculty’s Clinical Placement Expansion Programme and is currently leading project work around student placements, clinical supervision and preceptorship, highlighting the importance of these in staff recruitment and retention. She is passionate about workforce development and enjoys supporting colleagues to achieve their full potential.

Caroline lives in Liverpool with her husband and their two young children. She enjoys exploring new areas with the children, yoga, baking and time with friends and family.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Caroline applied for the NHS Regional Clinical Fellowship as it is an excellent opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the NHS and its processes. She has found the level of duplication and inefficiencies in many areas challenging and is keen to develop knowledge that will allow her to influence and streamline processes. She has extensive clinical experience and wishes to build on this, highlighting the role of AHPs and the value they can add in leadership positions. Alumni from the CSP’s LDP have been invaluable in her recent progression and application for this role and Caroline is excited to build further networks that can support each other in sharing successes and best practice. Caroline is grateful for this opportunity and for the support of her family and Trust.
