Clinical Fellow Alumni Scheme - Steering Group roles

The Clinical Fellow Alumni Steering Group will drive the development of the alumni scheme, it's activities and seeking opportunities for alumni to increase their profile across healthcare. Various roles are available, these may increase as the group's remit and interests develops.

Available roles

The committee is seeking leads for:

Pharmacy representative: Represent Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Clinical Fellow Alumni; key role in engaging pharmacy alumni with the scheme, ensuring activity is of interest to pharmacists and seeking opportunities to share learning from the profession.

Dental representative: Represent Chief Dental Officer's Clinical Fellow Alumni; key role in engaging dental alumni with the scheme, ensuring activity is of interest to dentists and seeking opportunities to share learning from the profession.

Events lead*: will organise and manage events for alumni which fulfil the aims to facilitate collaborative working relationships, connect to senior leaders, engage with the FMLM and develop skills. These could include networking events, seminars and forum discussions. The role will require budgeting, planning and facilitating virtual and face-to-face events. 

Communications lead*: will work closely with the FMLM communications team to engage with the alumni members keeping them up to date with progress on the scheme. The role also includes delivery of a quarterly newsletter and working with the events lead to advertise events.

Mentorship lead*: contribute to the development of the alumni mentorship scheme including resources to evaluate impact on the mentee, resources to support mentor development including feedback. Support research on clinical fellow tracking work.

*Applications are welcome from alumni from all schemes.

Currently the co-chairs and incoming co-chairs are alumni of the National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow Scheme. Thereafter, all alumni will be invited to apply for the co-chair role. FMLM welcomes representation from alumni from all schemes.

Requirements

  • Committee members must be alumni of the National Medical Director's, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's or Chief Dental Officer's Clinical Fellow Scheme.
  • Roles carry a two year term to allow leads to see key projects through their development, and staggered to ensure sufficient coverage and handover.
  • Roles are not remunerated. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed for attending steering group meetings although it is anticipated that these will be held virtually for maximum flexibility of committee members.
  • Committee members will receive a letter of appointment and an annual certificate of contribution to a national committee for portfolio, appraisal and revalidation evidence.
  • Committee members must be members of FMLM. Reminder: alumni are offered a 25% discount on membership, frozen at the trainee rate regardless of profession.
