Mrs Elizabeth Roebuck

NHS North East and Yorkshire Region
NHS Regional Clinical Leadership Fellow 2022/23
Paramedic

Lizzy is a HCPC registered Paramedic working within the North East Ambulance Service. She has predominantly worked in the frontline emergency, urgent, and unscheduled care environment since 2006. Lizzy obtained an MSC in Clinical Research at Newcastle University in 2013. Following this she worked for two years as a critical care and anaesthetic research practitioner in a hospital trust where she coordinated and managed research projects. Lizzy returned to the ambulance service in 2016 as an Advanced Practitioner. This role involved remotely assessing and triaging patients within an emergency operations centre, responding to 111 calls requiring out of hours urgent home assessments and invoking patient care and treatment pathways. Following the birth of her daughter, Lizzy returned to work part-time splitting her role between operational Paramedic shifts and working within her trust’s clinical audit department. Clinical audit enabled her to become involved in improving patient care, something she has committed to throughout her career. Following a recent organisational restructure Lizzy began a secondment as her trust’s Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Manager. This challenging role has allowed her to develop her experience of team management and leadership.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Lizzy has been involved in roles over her career which require leadership qualities. She hopes to develop her leadership style and skills within the faculty programme. Working for an organisation that spans a vast demographic in a unique setting, she is keen to learn skills to enable her to lead on projects which prioritise patient needs, whilst integrating staff and motivating high standards. Lizzy hopes to understand influences on service delivery and gain perspective of the wider healthcare system.
