Mrs Emma Brown

Emma Brown graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Liverpool in 2003. She worked at a London teaching hospital for 12 years before moving to her current role in Hertfordshire. Emma has undertaken post graduate study in Medication Management and more recently completed a masters module in Leadership for Allied Health Professionals.

Emma worked in London as a therapy lead for a community rehabilitation service, including an intermediate care unit. Emma’s specialty is neurological rehabilitation and she has developed Early Support Stroke Discharges Services in London and Hertfordshire. Emma’s current role is team lead for a neurological community service. This services provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation in close collaboration with the voluntary sector and social care.

In 2021, Emma was appointed Vice Chair for the Stroke Rehabilitation Clinical Advisory Group for the East of England.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Emma aspires to develop her career further by moving into a system leadership role, where she can have a wider impact on quality of care. Emma’s current role involves the leadership of both health and social care professionals alongside the voluntary sector. She is very passionate about working across boundaries to ensure effective healthcare that is patient focused.Emma’s appointment to the vice chair for the Stroke Rehabilitation Clinical Advisory Group for the East of England has provided her with an insight into working at a regional level. This recent experience, in combination with the knowledge and reflection during recent leadership study, has inspired her to apply for a NHS Regional Clinical Fellowship role. This role will enable her to develop further as a system leader and influence positive change in health and social care on a larger scale.
