Miss Natasha Callender

Clinical Fellow, NHS England and NHS Improvement

Natasha is currently based at NHS Improvement. She is a pharmacist with experience in hospital pharmacy, general practice and providing medicines optimisation at the clinical interface of primary and secondary care for frail, elderly housebound patients. Her most recent role was working as a clinical interface and general practice pharmacist for Lewisham Integrated Medicines Optimisation Service (LIMOS). Prior to this, she undertook a National Institute of Health Care Research (NIHR) Masters Studentship, on supporting self-management of adult asthma. She has a specialist interest in service developments in integrated care, medicines optimisation in long term conditions and medicines use across the clinical interface.

Natasha applied for this fellowship to gain an insight into the strategic leadership of the NHS. It will provide a developmental opportunity to hone her leadership skills and learn from senior leaders in the NHS. The fellowship will give Natasha a unique opportunity to understand national healthcare priorities, the processes and rationale for decisions that govern developments in medicines optimisation and medication safety. It will also provide an opportunity for both personal and professional development, in addition to further enhancing the skills and networks necessary to be a future NHS clinical leader.
