Miss Natasha Lal

Natasha studied Pharmacy at the University of Hertfordshire and completed her pre-registration training at Imperial College NHS Foundation Trust. She joined the Structured Training and Education for Pharmacists (STEP) residency programme at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2016, working across the King’s Health Partnership trusts as a clinical rotational pharmacist. She completed the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice at University College London in 2019 before becoming an Independent Prescriber with King’s College London.

Natasha joined the gastroenterology and oral medicine team in 2021 where she successfully set up pharmacist-led oral medicine immunomodulatory, initiation and monitoring clinics within the dental directorate. Natasha was able to share the successful implementation of her clinics and its positive impact on patient care at the national oral medicine conference.

Natasha’s role as a highly specialist pharmacist in gastroenterology has allowed her to develop leadership and managerial experience whilst continuing to show her commitment to enhancing patient care and developing pharmacy services. Natasha works closely with the wider multidisciplinary teams on a daily basis in her outpatient clinics alongside supporting with education, training and research within Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Natasha’s commitment to innovation and improvement in the NHS motivated her to applying to the fellowship.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Natasha applied to the fellowship to utilise her background in secondary care to influence and contribute to changes at a national level. With the focus on medicines optimisation and the pharmacy profession increasing, Natasha is looking forward to having the opportunity to work alongside a range of diverse senior healthcare leaders whilst gaining an insight into the shaping of healthcare policies and national strategies.

Natasha is passionate about enhancing patient care and reducing health inequalities and is looking forward to learning and developing the key leadership and project management skills that are essential for promoting this change.

By having the opportunity to work on national projects and gain a deeper understanding of healthcare, Natasha is hoping to develop her role within the NHS and support the growth and development of her career.
