Previously, Vinay has worked for NHS 111 as a GP Out of Hours and Shift Supervisor, co-ordinating, managing and problem solving the regional 111 service provisions.

He is enrolled in an Advanced Clinic Practice Masters in Paediatric Ophthalmology with the University of Sheffield.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Vinay has worked for the NHS for eight years in clinical and supervisory roles. He began working for the NHS 111 service, and after completion of his undergraduate degree began working as an allied health professional at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has developed into an autonomous, advanced practitioner of Orthoptics and lead for the Homerton University Hospital Ophthalmology service.

He was drawn towards FMLM's NHS Regional Clinical Leadership Fellow Scheme due to the programme's elements of service improvement and policy, of which he wishes to develop his understanding. He is excited to start a new role that will involve remote working and non patient facing which will compliment his Moorfields clinical days.

Vinay believes the fellowship schemes offered by FMLM serve an essential part to meeting the NHS Long Term Plan, specifically the leadership focus which underlines the fellowship. This enables the staff members that work within the NHS to become effective leaders and contribute to innovation and improvement of services and patient care. His hope is to apply the skills and experience he develops to become both an effective leader and champion for developing services within the NHS.

Upon completion of the fellowship scheme Vinay wishes to focus on quality service improvement and redesign of his own department, service and trust. There are several challenges facing Ophthalmology and he aims to target these, combining his own clinical knowledge and the tools and experience from this fellowship scheme.
