 About Me

My personal interests:

Living near Edinburgh, in Scotland; married, with one son, two daughters, and two adorable grandsons. My personal interests include family; yoga and meditation; wandering over high hills in remote places; wild swimming; cycling; being in nature; and health, well-being and resilience.

My values:

Accepting; growing; connecting; relating; respecting; showing up - being real; creatively experimenting with new ways of thinking-feeling-being-doing.

Why I went into coaching:

Whilst operating as a senior leader in the NHS in Scotland, I had a coaching style of leadership, and positioned coaching at the heart of leadership development and transformational change.

My coaching philosophy:

My coaching is relational. I build trust and lasting relationships, listen deeply, ask congruent questions, speak my own truth and invite my clients to do likewise. I support leaders to engage in meaningful, purposeful relationships, dialogue, work and life, fully stepping into their authentic leadership presence, voice, power, and potential, to deliver effective performance and results.

My coaching approach:

I have a style which is relational and developmental. I support my clients to identify what is true for them (deepening awareness), to expand their range of choices (insights, reframes), develop their inner resources, and explore ways forward, and commit to learning, growth, action, change.

My coaching experience:

I have been coaching professionally since 2003, and I have over 1800 hours of recorded professional practice. My clients include CEOs, directors, leaders, academic/clinical leaders. I have extensive experience of designing & facilitating leadership and coaching programmes.

What can I offer you? - my specialised coaching skills:

Leadership coaching; transition coaching; strengths based coaching; emotional intelligence coaching; well-being & resilience coaching; mindful coaching; coaching women leaders; coaching in nature.  I have a deep interest in coaching with psychological depth.

Client Testimonial

"I have had one of the most enriching learning experiences in my career. I have gained a deeper insight, self-awareness and acceptance of who I am as a person. I feel more confident in addressing the challenging aspects of my role. I have explored my responses to different situations; I now understand more fully, the reasons behind my reactions to the behaviours of others. I have explored issues in a safe environment and felt comfortable in doing so. I have realised opportunities for putting my new learning into practice. Kay has followed up our meetings with very valuable resource information to enable me to continue exploring issues between coaching sessions. This has been really helpful and I have felt able to revisit concerns at each follow-up session. Through this, I have reflected on areas which have gone well and identify areas for further development. I feel this process has enhanced my leadership qualities and I have received positive feedback from colleagues to reinforce this. I feel more authentic in my presence with others. My professional relationships have strengthened as a result."
