Emma has experience presenting research at national and international conferences, was selected to take part in the European Academy of Nursing Science Summer School and enjoys coaching and mentoring student nurses. Emma studied for her BA Politics at the University of York, BSc in Nursing at Oxford Brookes University, and her MSc Public health with a focus on health promotion at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Reason for applying for the scheme

As a dedicated nurse working in the NHS Emma is keen to harness the power of the nursing community to help the NHS become the first net zero healthcare provider. There is already a range of excellent quality improvement initiatives run by nurses and other healthcare professionals across the UK to reduce carbon emissions. Emma sees this Fellowship as the ideal opportunity to help bring these to the forefront and make change on a national scale. Emma is also passionate about using this as an opportunity to make improvements to how services and care are delivered to patients and their loved ones whilst fulfilling the net zero target. This Fellowship will provide Emma with the opportunity to develop strategic leadership and policy skills, and amplify and champion the voice of nurses from across the country to contribute to net-zero targets.
