Mr Rob Gargon

NHS Regional Clinical Fellow Scheme 2021/22

Rob Gargon graduated as an Orthoptist from the University of Liverpool in 2011. Following graduation he worked at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital until July 2012 and then moved to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals until February 2015. Rob is currently an Advanced Orthoptist at Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals and is the Lead Clinical Tutor for Orthoptics at Warrington & Halton and is responsible for planning and organising all undergraduate placements within Orthoptics and works very closely with students: supervising and teaching . He also has an extended role in the glaucoma service virtually monitoring patients with ocular hypertension and glaucoma. He also works closely with children with special educational needs and manages the eye care provided at Green Lane Special School. Rob has aspirations to move into management/leadership roles and has completed the Mary Seacole leadership programme.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Rob is an experienced clinician and has worked as an Orthoptist for the last ten years. As an experienced clinician in a lead clinical post Rob is one of the senior members of his team and has responsibilities as a leader and is passionate about providing a high standard of clinical leadership.

Rob applied for the Clinical Fellow scheme as he believes this opportunity offers the natural next step in his leadership development. Rob is motivated by the prospect of working as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team with inspiring and self-motivated people and is especially motivated by the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in shaping transformation initiatives at regional and national level.
