Mr Paul Wright

Clinical Fellow, NHS Digital

Paul Wright graduated from the University of Bradford in 2009 and completed pre-registration pharmacist training at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. Post qualification, he moved to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust where he undertook his residency training and completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice. He then moved to NHS Leeds West Clinical Commissioning Group where he supported GP practices and performed clinical medication reviews for both care home patients and those with polypharmacy. During this post he completed his Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for Pharmacists qualification. For the past 3 years, he has worked as an Informatics Pharmacist for EMIS Health. Paul is responsible for authoring, maintaining and supporting clinical content within the EMIS Drug, Code and Decision Support databases. EMIS systems are used worldwide and their data drives over 40 million patient records.

He applied to the fellowship to gain an insight into the NHS at a national level and to work alongside senior leaders. Paul is keen to develop effective leadership and management skills by leading on national projects. He is eager to develop professional networks through cross collaboration with other fellows and healthcare professionals. At NHS Digital, he hopes to contribute and lead on projects which will improve patient care and provide efficiencies within the system through the use of technology and data.
