Dr Pratusha Babu

Clinical Fellow, NHS England and NHS Improvement
NHS England and NHS Improvement - Joint Improvement Directorate

Pratusha graduated from King's College London Medical School with distinction before completing Foundation and General Paediatric training in Kent and London. She obtained a sub-speciality training post in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London.

Pratusha enjoys teaching and is involved in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as peers and allied heathcare professionals. In 2016, she became a Global Links Volunteer with RCPCH in Myanmar and was involved in teaching and training local Healthcare Professionals in Emergency Paediatric and Neonatal Care. Through this experience, she developed an interest in not only Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine, but also leadership; she has sought opportunities to learn more about leadership and management in the NHS through the Chief Resident Programme at Addenbrooke's Hospital and as Junior Doctor ICU directorate Representative at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.

Pratusha's interests outside of medicine include cycling, running and travelling.

Through Pratusha's experience volunteering in Myanmar and ongoing reflections of working as a front line clinician in the NHS, she has explored how leadership can affect patient outcomes, for the better. She has been inspired by many people in leadership and management, particulalry those whose leadership has been compassionate and empathetic. Through the FMLM National Medical Director's Scheme she aims to develop these qualities, learn and collaborate with others in both similar and different roles in the NHS.
