Ms Roshni Maisuria

Clinical Fellow, NICE

Roshni is based at NICE and started her career as a clinical pharmacist working in various teaching hospitals South East London aligned with King's Health Partners (KHP). She joined the Structured Training and Experience for Pharmacist (STEP) programme completing clinical rotations in a wide range of specialties including intensive care and vascular disease in a tertiary centre. This experience was enhanced by working for 3.5 years within a clinical commissioning group (CCG) in the medicines optimisation team. Here, she led on developing and delivering local medicines optimisation priorities and policies, collaborating with GPs and other stakeholders within the local health and care economy to deliver this.

Her keen interest in understanding the growing burden and inequalities in health and the impact on the health economy led here to complete an MSc in health economics at City, University of London. This took her into the world of healthcare consulting, where one of her key projects was working to develop a global health economics analytics platform. She has a developing interest in health technology innovation and how real-world data can be used to improve patient outcomes.

She applied to the fellowship to gain a unique opportunity to develop leadership and management skills and understand the wider landscape of healthcare. Roshni was keen to work at NICE for her fellowship as it provided the opportunity to work and implement change at a national level and work collaboratively with other national arms-length bodies to achieve better health outcomes. Working at NICE, she can apply her previous experience to act as a technical lead on a Technology Appraisal (TA) and contribute to wider NICE workstreams.
