Dr Sarah Blackstock

Clinical Fellow, NHSX

Sarah Blackstock is a Paediatric Registrar in London. Sarah graduated from Leeds Medical School with honours in 2009, and has an Intercalated BSc in International Health and a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Sarah has worked clinically in the UK, Australia and Malawi, and has experienced how different health care structures and levels of resources impact patient care and how management influences workplace culture. Sarah undertook an internship at the World Health Organisation in Geneva, working on guideline development and policy documents for the upcoming Global Childhood Obesity Guidelines. Sarah is interested in the use of technology to improve patient experience and outcomes and won a national patient experience award for developing a WhatsApp broadcast group for adolescents with type 1 diabetes, which provided peer support and education. Sarah recently released a Podcast called ‘Cribnotes’ in partnership with a BBC broadcaster after identifying an unmet need for medical information for new parents in a convenient format.

Sarah is passionate about public health, health innovation and education. She is looking forward to undertaking this fellowship to learn more about medical leadership and how evidence can be translated into effective health care strategy. Sarah is keen to develop her leadership skills by observing leaders at a national level as she has seen the importance of strong leadership to drive change. Sarah is particularly looking forward to joining the team at NHSX and seeing how digital transformation is led.
