Sascha Smith studied midwifery at Anglia Ruskin University and then worked as a rotational midwife at Colchester Hospital. In 2019, Sascha moved into a senior midwife position and led the launch of an induction of labour suite at Ipswich Hospital which was praised as responsive by the CQC. Since then, Sascha has also taken responsibility for the birthing centre at Ipswich.
Reason for applying for the scheme
Sascha is passionate about service improvement and is intrigued by NHS leadership and its place within service innovation. Sascha is keen to learn more about the work behind the scenes which helps to shape practice “on the ground.”
