Dr Stephanie Yeung

NHS Business Services Authority
Chief Dental Officer's Clinical Fellow 2023/24
Dentist

Stephanie is a dentist based in London. She qualified from Barts and The London with numerous national prizes, receiving a First Class Honours in Oral Biology during her intercalated BSc year, for which she was awarded the Edith Cavell Scholarship. After completing her foundation training in Surrey, she has worked in different primary and secondary care settings, with experience in both NHS and private dental practices. She also completed the Edward Jenner Leadership Programme during this time and served on the BDA Ethics, Education and Dental Team Committee.

Her passion for mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders has resulted in national project successes while leading the dental branch of a medical social enterprise. Stephanie has also published and presented her research on a digital diagnostic test for oral cancer at national and international conferences.

Stephanie subsequently worked as a strategy consultant, carrying out commercial due diligence and corporate strategy projects for clients in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. She also gained clinical product management experience as a BiteLabs Healthtech and Innovation Fellow, providing an additional lens through which to view patient care and service delivery. She has continued clinical practice alongside these roles, working for multiple independent and corporate practices.

Reason for applying for the scheme

As someone who has experienced how innovation occurs at the intersection of different disciplines, Stephanie was drawn to the scheme by how it offers the opportunity to further develop her skillsets gained from working across a combination of clinical, academic and consulting roles.

Stephanie is motivated by the opportunity to meet and work alongside individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds. She is keen to continue building her network and learning from others who are also making a difference to patients beyond clinical practice. Stephanie is very excited to be joining NHS BSA, where she hopes to further develop her project management skills and use data analytics to drive dental policy change.

Stephanie is confident the fellowship will help her realise her ambition of becoming a high-performing leader able to navigate the complexity of healthcare systems as well as the challenges that arise when ideology and policy meet market reality.
