FMLM is committed to supporting medical students who are seeking to develop their leadership and management aspirations. The FMLM Medical Student Elective is designed to offer medical students insight and a greater understanding of leadership, management and healthcare policy in a non-clinical setting.
The elective gives medical students the opportunity to spend a six week elective working with the FMLM outside of clinical practice. It will help students develop greater awareness and understanding of leadership and management and exposure to senior activity at a national level.
“The scheme is a truly unique opportunity to delve deeper into the day-to-day reality of medical leadership from a variety of perspectives...one of the most informative and educational experiences in medical school.”
The elective offers medical students the opportunity to:
- Meet and work with FMLM’s Chief Executive Officer, Professor Rich Withnall.
- Meet members of the FMLM Board.
- Work with the Faculty's Clinical Fellows.
- Develop leadership and management skills through project work and teaching activities .
- Connect with senior medical leaders and their teams within diverse healthcare organsiations.
The elective runs for six weeks in April/May annually.
Please note that places are limited and FMLM are not able to offer any alternative elective dates outside of the stated period.
