FMLM statement on the proposed ‘College of Executive and Clinical Leadership’

Responding to comments made by the Health and Social Care Secretary, Wes Streeting, at the NHS Providers conference regarding the creation of a new College, Professor Rich Withnall, Chief Executive of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, said:

“FMLM welcomes more steps to professionalise and standardise the quality of clinical leadership and management. The Secretary of State’s announcement of the creation of a ‘College of Executive and Clinical Leadership’ will help do that.

“It is important that time is taken to get this right. Wide stakeholder engagement should enable collaboration not competition. FMLM looks forward to continuing to work with the Department of Health and Social Care, the four NHS administrations, and existing professional bodies to inform the development of the new College.”
